The CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System can treat tumors anywhere in the body, but especially excels at treating the prostate. Despite its name, the CyberKnife System is not a surgical procedure. In fact, there is no cutting involved. Instead, the CyberKnife System delivers high doses of radiation directly to the prostate in four to five treatment sessions in a treatment called prostate stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), also referred to as prostate radiosurgery.

Dr. Alan J Katz explains why CyberKnife is the most effective treatment for locally contained prostate cancer and how it works.

What is being done to make cancer screening safer and more accurate?

UroNav and DynaCad combine to form a powerful new MR solution for analysis, planning and targeted biopsy of the prostate, reducing the risks associated with biopsy.

UroNav Prostate
MR/US fusion aligns and registers prior diagnostic MR images (bottom) with real-time ultrasound images (top). Red outline displays the segmented prostate anatomy from the MR exam and blue/red “targets indicate the location of the MR suspicious lesions.

Colorado CyberKnife is proud to announce that we employ the UroNav System along with DynaCad MRI analysis, allowing oncologists and radiologists to better identify cancerous cells anywhere in the body. This is accomplished by fusing MRI scanning with real-time ultrasound. locating precisely where the cancer is in order to reduce the number of biopsies necessary and aid in our treatment planning, saving more lives each day.
